The Palisades Fire Litigation is a mass tort litigation against the City of Los Angeles and its Department of Water and Power (LADWP) alleging that negligence and mismanagement of public lands and utilities caused the January 2025 Palisades Fire in the Santa Monica Mountains of Los Angeles and surrounding areas of Los Angeles, including Pacific Palisades, Topanga, and Malibu. The cases are brought on behalf of victims and survivors of the Palisades Fire to recover for their losses. The cases are consolidated under the Lead Case (the first filed case) of Grigsby, et al. v. City of Los Angeles, LA Superior Court Case No. 25STCV00832.

The Portal is the official platform established for collecting and managing Individual Plaintiff data in the Palisades Fire Litigation.

Judge Samantha Jessner in the Los Angeles County Superior Court is the Judge overseeing this litigation.

Each plaintiff, or their attorney, if represented, should register their filed case in the BrownGreer Portal. Liaison Counsel also encourages registration of all unfiled cases.

Pro se plaintiffs who do not already have access to the Portal may submit a request. Attorneys who represent plaintiffs and whose law firm has not yet been granted access may also submit a request. Represented plaintiffs must contact their attorneys for information.

To request access, click the Log In button in the top header of the Palisades Fire Litigation public website. Next, click Request Access and provide the required information.

If a member of your law firm has been granted access to the Portal, that person, as the Portal Administrator for your law firm, can add new users on the Firm Administration tab of the Portal in the Manage Firm Users section.

Each firm will have its own Portal. Both you and co-counsel will need to request access to the Portal. After you have both established access, email info@palisadesfirelitigationportal.com identifying the plaintiffs that you represent with co-counsel. You and your co-counsel will only be able to view the shared plaintiffs that you specifically asked the Portal Administrator to link to each of your Portals. Your co-counsel will not have access to any plaintiffs in your inventory that you do not represent together.

Any authorized user that you add to your law firm’s Portal will have access to your entire plaintiff inventory. This means that if you have granted co-counsel access to your Portal as an authorized user, that firm will be able to see all documents, registration details, and other information related to your entire plaintiff inventory, including plaintiffs who you do not represent together.

If you would like for co-counsel to have access to certain plaintiffs in your inventory that you represent with that counsel, we will establish a separate law firm Portal for your co-counsel and will link shared plaintiffs to each of your Portals. Email info@palisadesfirelitigationportal.com identifying the plaintiffs that you represent with co-counsel and would like to link to multiple Portals.

Click the Log In button in the top header of the Palisades Fire Litigation public website. Enter your login ID and password and click the Log In button. Follow the on-screen instructions or contact info@palisadesfirelitigationportal.com if you need any assistance.

When registering, you must provide the following plaintiff demographic information:

a. Plaintiff Name

b. Plaintiff Type (e.g., Individual, Business, Trust, Estate)

c. Individual Plaintiff Type (e.g., Deceased, Incapacitated, or Minor, if relevant)

d. Date of Birth (if the plaintiff is an individual)

e. Date of Death (if the plaintiff is deceased)

f. Case Number and Case Name (if plaintiff is included in a filed case)

When registering a minor, identify the Individual Plaintiff Type as Minor and provide the minor plaintiff’s full name and date of birth. Identifying minors by Individual Plaintiff Type and date of birth ensures the Data Administrator identifies and anonymizes the minor’s data for any required court reporting.

When registering a conserved person, identify the Individual Plaintiff Type as Incapacitated and provide the plaintiff’s name and date of birth.

If registering a deceased plaintiff with a probated estate, register the estate using its legal name as an estate plaintiff (i.e., Estate of John Doe).

If there is no probated estate, register the decedent in their individual name and enter their date of birth and date of death.

Identify an Authorized Representative for each plaintiff who is a deceased, minor, or incapacitated individual or that is a business, trust, or estate. In the Plaintiff Details screen, click the Edit Plaintiff button and add or update the Authorized Representative information.

In your Portal, open the Plaintiff Details screen for the plaintiff whose information you need to update and click the Edit Plaintiff button to add or update relevant information.
